This notable collection of paintings owes its origins to a bequest from Miss Annie Templeton Anderson. Since her death in 1980, it has been held in a Trust for the enjoyment and benefit of the local community, which she generously supported throughout her life.

Over the past 42 years the original collection of 34 paintings has increased to a total of 132, all of which are associated with the area, either by artist or subject matter. Thanks to generous gifts of works from private donors and a few new purchases, the Collection is continuing to grow and, from time to time, it is interesting for the public to have an opportunity of viewing recent additions.
