The RNCYC is hosting an event to enable people in the local community to meet Pudsey and to raise funds for Children in Need. There will be Pudsey Pirate Party on Tuesday 16 Jun from 4-5:30, a great event for children and their families.

We would like to invite people in the Rhu and Helensburgh communities to come along to meet and support Pudsey and the Big Bear Voyage crew. There will be Pirate Games for the children, tea/coffee or soft drinks and home baking, and all donations to Children in Need will be much appreciated – cash or cards accepted.

Parking can be tight at the Club, so if you are coming please carpool with friends, take the bus to Rhu, or park in the village and walk along to the Club.

The Big Bear Voyage 2026

Jonathan Brewin, a past commodore of the Royal Bermuda YC, is skipper of the Big Bear Voyage 2026 taking Pudsey Bear on his First Round-Britain Voyage to raise funds for Children in Need. The inspiration for the voyage is that as Jonathan turned 70 this year, rather than marking the occasion quietly, his wife Jackie and he decided to do something more purposeful by raising £70,000 for Children in Need as it is a charity that achieves so much for youngsters facing challenges.

They are doing an ambitious 2,200-nautical-mile journey around the UK coastline visiting 35 coastal communities including Rhu to raise funds and awareness for Children in Need. For many families, meeting Pudsey is a joyful, memorable moment. His presence brings the mission to life – sparking conversations about mental health, wellbeing and the importance of feeling supported.

Above all, Pudsey reinforces a simple message: no child should ever feel alone.
