Friends of Geilston

The Friends of Geilston (FoG) are a membership organisation set up to promote, protect and preserve Geilston Garden, House and Estate in Cardross, as an NTS property, to benefit the local community and visitors from further afield.

This beautiful NTS property has a walled garden, woodland walk and demonstration kitchen garden with vegetable and fruit produce usually for sale during the growing season.  (NTS entry fees apply) Garden opening times on NTS website

In 2017 the NTS were considering the future of Geilston and it was under threat of closure and sale. Without the support of our members, Geilston Garden would have closed to the public and Scotland would have lost this tranquil gem of a garden. The garden is still under threat. Please join us. To become a FoG member go to http://friendsofgeilston.org (membership fee £5)

The FoG usually organise various events throughout the season which include; guided walks, workshops, theatre groups, larger events and competitions.

We run an Annual Calendar Competition. For further details please see the FoG website

The group also support the property with donations for specific purchases and projects e.g. arranging the display of Geilston carronades dated 1779 in the walled garden, and producing historical leaflets about the families who have owned and lived at Geilston over the centuries.
